Founded as Van Niekerk, Kleyn and Edwards in 1947, SMEC Namibia (previously VKE Namibia) is now part of the SMEC group and thus a Namibian firm with international backing. Through our membership of the SMEC Group, and the Singapore based SJ Group, we have access to state-of-the-art technical resources and highest-calibre professional expertise.
The company, since 1958, has mainly been a roads-oriented consulting engineering firm that has performed feasibility studies, and designed and supervised the construction and rehabilitation of more than 2,100km of rural bitumen surfaced roads as well as 140km of freeways. SMEC Namibia is however currently in the process of rebranding itself in order to widen the scope of services that it may offer in Namibia by, in particular, leveraging the SMEC Group’s network of global specialists and advanced capabilities in transport, energy, water and urban infrastructure.
Additionally, the company offers consultancy services in structural evaluations, computer aided design (CAD), land surveying/geomatics, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and technical feasibility studies.
